[Standing] At the Opera

Liebe Familie, Dienstag 14 Oktober 2008
I got an “A” on the test I took yesterday! All of the studying is paying off, I'm absolutely ecstatic!

After classes I ran home and took care of a bunch of business, mostly just researching candidates (my absentee ballot finally arrived today!) and figuring out flight/train/hostel information for my week off.

At four I went and got in line for the standing room tickets at the Staatsoper. After doing some homework in line, I got an okay spot in the Balcony standing room. Expecting to hate the opera, and completely dreading it, I was amazed. I do not understand how that could have been so entertaining, as I read the play and was bored out of my mind, and expected a very painful night. It was Faust by Goethe. Surprisingly auf Franzoezisch. I was definitely expecting it to be in German, but then I heard a “merci” in there, and it took me a while...

After the amazing performance I came home and just researched tickets for traveling. Tomorrow will be a busy day, so have fun, and I miss you all!
Love,
Anna
