Yet Another Castle

Liebe Familie, Mittwoch 15 Oktober 2008
We went on a trip to Kreuzenstein, a castle outside of Vienna today. It was really fun, it was a castle built in the Middle Ages, but ruined several hundred years afterwards. In the 1600s some man ran out of space for his antique collection, so he bought the ruins of the castle, built on top of it, and put his collection inside. Our tour guide was really cool, and let us take pictures even though it wasn't allowed.

The tour did not take as long as expected, so we ended up back in the center of Vienna in the early afternoon. I went home, talked to my inhospitable guest mother, then went out with two friends to discover the city. The things you can find when you just somewhat aimlessly wander! We found the cheapest book store I have ever seen in Europe. Ever. We found loads of second hand stores, which I will now devote myself to checking out regularly so I can find a Dirndl.

After seeing loads of stuff we wandered over to the Institut for a German lesson about the Book of Mormon, and then socializing and eating with the members afterwards. I gave my number to a couple of people tonight, so hopefully I'll get to spend more time with natives than just at church activities. We just go out of town so much it's really difficult....
Hope all is well,
Deine Anna
